Saturday, March 24, we put together a quick hike to Draper Red Rock. The trail had a closed sign on it, but we decided that was probably to keep mountain bikes from using the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and causing some massive erosion. We discovered rather it’s climbers shortcutting the switchbacks straight through the trees, resulting in a massive mudslide blocking a portion of the trail. We ended up not climbing that day, but it was a cool hike.
We headed over to American Fork Canyon and parked at the base of the Grey Cliffs Area, and looked at the cool bolted climbs there. We saw a few rock climbers up on the cliffs, and let the kids scramble around on the boulders and up the approach path to the base of the cliffs.
It was a pretty cool morning overall.
